“Eureka Awards 2008” function was organized by AID INDIA on Saturday 10th Jan 2009 at Asha Nivas, Chennai. 70 people were awarded on different categories and more than 200 people from various blocks of all districts of Tamilnadu participated in the award function.

Function was inaugurated by Dr. Mohan Bhagat, Director, AID USA and Dr. Vasanthi Devi, President and Dr. Balaji Sampath, Secretary of AID INDIA. Mr.Mu. Murugesh, CGM Member, AID INDIA anchored the entire program.

The other chief guest who was invited for the function was Mr.Muhil, HR Manager, BHEL, Ranipet. He gave a special address with his song – “We shall overcome…”, and asked all the audience to sing the song along with him. All the audience sang the song together with him and that was a nice chorus.

Eureka Awards

Awards were given in the below categories for all the block, district and state level persons.

• Best Field Worker Award
• Best Trainer Award
• Special Initiative Award
• Best Coordination Award
• Best Performance Award

Awards were distributed to the recipients by Mr. Mohan Bhagat, Dr.Vasanthi Devi in the morning session.

Best Field Worker Award - Awarded for effective field work – for the BRPs and Zonal coordinators. BRPs – to do regular visits to schools, ensuring materials reach in all schools, maintain good rapport with the teachers, know all the information about their responsible schools and committed to work. Zonal coordinators – to ensure regular school visits by all the BRPs in their zone, maintain good rapport with the government officials and to update information about the schools in their respective zones.

Best Trainer Award – Awarded for the best trainers. For ESA, zonal & block coordinators were eligible for this award who had good program content understanding, good observation skills, speaking skills and ability to identify gaps in programs.

Special Initiative Award – Awarded for the Block, District and State level persons for special initiative, innovation, response to emergency and taking up additional responsibilities other than their usual assigned work.

Best Performance Award – Awarded for the best performance in the state level for being systematic and reliable and for consistent performance.

After the lunch break, the function continued and the chief guests for the afternoon session were Mr. AG Karunakaran, Chariman, CASTFAB Eng India Pvt Ltd, Mr. Srinath Rajam, Director, TVS, Mr. Chandramowli, Executive Director of Kothari Sugars & Chemicals and Mr.S Madhavan, CEO of Cognizant Foundation.

Awards were distributed to the recipients by Mr.Srinath Rajam, Mr. AG Karunakaran and Chandramowli.

Another guest, Mr.Nellai Thiruvudayar of Tamilnadu Writer’s Association and who has sung many folk songs for Arivoli Iyakkam, mesmerized the audience with his special folk songs with music creating awareness on education.

Culturals

After all the awards were distributed and the chief guests were honored, the culturals program started. Stunning performances were given by various persons from block, district and state levels of AID INDIA.

Samundeeswari, CGM member, AID INDIA made a speech of thanksgiving to all the chief guests, award winners, BRPs, Zonal Coordinators and all other participants from the entire block and district levels, state persons, the program organizers – Gowri, Anand Mayan, Gayathri and all the others who contributed to make this function a successful one.
